jabbr
It was about time. I still had a bunch of discs made in 2015. The last swap was discs made in 2018-2019. I routinely monitor my zpool scrub reports. All clean. Periodically I run $smartctl on each disc. Error corrections were accumulating. These discs were getting old so I pre-emptititvely swapped them out, but rather than 4gb SAS drives, the new ones are 8gb SAS. AudioDoctor 1 Custom room treatments for headphone users. AudioDoctor
You reminded me to check, and... my local files are fine. edit: This is after one year of constant use in my desktop machine. No electron left behind. Link to comment

I use the output of smartcll to decide when to swap a drive i.e. before the errors hit zfs. I also run smartctl on new drives to see: a) how old they are b) if they are really new (that said i try to buy from trusted sources but amazon has 3-rd party vendors as does newegg for drives) AudioDoctor 1 Custom room treatments for headphone users. AudioDoctor
I also have a nice GUI for smartmontools called GSmartControl that lets me see the data: jabbr 1 No electron left behind. Link to comment
