True. I do believe more and more of the new dacs will perform a better job of noise isolation that we may not need an Intona anymore

As the first thing, with HQPlayer not running, you can move your %LOCALAPPDATA%\HQPlayer\settings.xml (usually C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\HQPlayer) to some other directory and start HQPlayer. It should then start with default settings. If that doesn't help, move the settings file back.

Do you have still the previous version installation media stored? If you can, try to return to your previous version to see if that version behaves still flawlessly.

You can try this more pedant reinstallation procedure for Win11 application:

Reboot (to ensure that no process blocks full uninstallation)

Settings -> Apps -> Installed Apps -> uninstall Signalyst HQPlayer 5 Desktop

Check if files in C:\Program Files\Signalyst\HQPlayer 5 Desktop were deleted.

Install the new version.

Check if you didn't start using some kind of software you didn't use previously. Check if you didn't start to experience any other issues with your computer, which are not related to HQPlayer.

Moving the settings file worked. Thanks!!

And if one has Nvidia GPU, whenever updating HQPlayer it is also good time to check whether there is a new Studio Driver available from Nvidia (or Game Ready if the computer is also used for gaming).

It is also good practice to uninstall previous version before installing new one. This cleans up old file versions from the program files folder so that there is no cumulative growth of unused files there. It shouldn't have functional effect though...

I use Intona Premium USB 2.0 cable (it's the "cheapest" out of the Intona 2.0 offerings). I've tested around ten different USB cables in my current setup and Intona has beat them all. It just sounds most natural and correct without masking any detail. Some cables might sound muffled, might boost bass or might sound too bright etc. I've used USB cables between Holo Red and Holo Spring 3 and T+A DAC200. USB cable matters, even though the USB interfaces I've used are among the best out there. I guess Intona is on to something with their impedance matching. I have no intention or interest in starting the debate if USB cables can make a difference or not. Just sharing my subjective experience.

To convert PCM to DSD or not to DSD with HQ Player. That is the question.
It's not just me.
iiWi sums up the sonic differences and I concur completely. I am a native format person. With max HQ Player upsampling and a super high quality digital filter for PCM.
