iTunes and Everything Apple Latest Topicshttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/forum/87-itunes-and-everything-apple/iTunes and Everything Apple Latest TopicsenWeird iOS Music app Compilation bughttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/69234-weird-ios-music-app-compilation-bug/ 1) I have a number of compilation albums. I think the they are tagged correctly i.e. Artist = name of performer of track; Album Artist is blank and Compilation check-box is clicked

2) Sync a compilation album to iPhone.

3) Looking at the Library -> Compilations on iPhone, some of the single albums in MacOS Music app are broken into multiple albums in iOS Music app

What seems to happen is if there are other albums in your library where the Album Artist = the Artist of one or more tracks on the Compilation album then these tracks are put on their own album. You can see this with the "Help" album below. It is one album in the Mac Music but 9 on my iPhone seemingly because I have albums from "Manic Street Preachers", "Massive Attack", "The Stone Roses", "Suede", "O'Connor, Sinead", "Radiohead", "The Charlatans" and "Blur" but not from the other artists on the album.

Is this some sort of "feature"?

Moving Audirvana Remote to MacBook Air/Pro - is it possible?https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/69248-moving-audirvana-remote-to-macbook-airpro-is-it-possible/ hi all,

I'm tired of swiping up, down, across on an iPad's for Audirvana Remote. I would prefer a mouse driven, keyboard input rather than sub optimal iPad quirky human interface. I like to browse while listening, and the swiping is really starting to annoy, such as half swipe up, or completely swipe up, quick access, swipe down right hand corner, enough!

Can any of the new m series Macbooks install Audirvana Remote?

If not, I can remote Desktop to the Windows machine to change the settings and select music, but would rather use the Audirvana Remote.

Batch Conversion From WAV to MP3https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/69892-batch-conversion-from-wav-to-mp3/ I'm a newb and was gifted a hard drive with 400+ CDs as WAV files, recorded with Windows Media Player 7.

I want them all on my phone as mp3s (while maintaining the originals) and obviously want to batch convert as simply as possible.

The path is E: Data > Music > Phil > then a folder for every artist > inside those, folders for every disc by that artist. Questions:

Can you simply feed the "converter" the “Music” folder? The “Phil” folder?

Does the converter extract the individual discs and their files, making this a single-step process? If not, do I have to feed every disc folder into the converter?

Should the conversion take place on the PC or the phone? If it’s the phone, what’s a good app for Android that does this and stores them in a decent library?

Probably sounds like a lot of "How the heck does this actually work?"  🫤  Thanks for your patience.

Split Albums in Sonoma 14.5https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/69879-split-albums-in-sonoma-145/ My Set Up

So I have a hard disc plugged directly into my Auralic Aries. All my music is in a folder called "Zen Trax" on the hard disc. My hard disc is called "iansen music 2024 external ssd". I control the music using Auralic's Lightning DS App.

Previously (ie before my new MacBookAir running Sonoma 14.5):

I was using iTunes on an old MacBookPro.  To add tracks I would just open iTunes on my MacBookPro, ensure in my settings that the music library was pointed to the "Zen Trax" folder on my hard disc, and then import the tracks.

I could do this either from my laptop with the hard disc connected to the Auralic Aries ie wirelessly (which was quite slow) or by connecting the hard disc directly to my laptop ie wired (which was much faster).

I would have to "refresh" the Auralic Aries App so that it showed the newly imported tracks.

Now (using Apple Music on my new MacBookAir running Sonoma 14.5):

So I connected my hard disc to my MacBookAir, in  Apple Music >> Settings >> Music Media Folder Location I chose /iansen music 2024 external ssd/Zen Trax.  (At least I think I did this!)

I then tried importing the new tracks.

I plugged the hard disc back into Auralic Aries... and hundreds of albums have been split into two.

Looking at my external hard disc I can see there are three folders:

Zen Trax

Automatically Add To Music

Music

There's about 900GB in "Zen Trax" and about 900GB in "Music".  I can see that some albums have some tracks in the "Zen Trax" folder, and others in the "Music" folder, and this splitting of tracks of an album corresponds with how they show up in the Auralic App as two albums. So it's not a metadata issue, but a file location issue.

(In the Apple Music App - for those albums where the tracks are split into the two different folders - its not showing as two albums...)

Any suggestions on how to merge the tracks in the two folders?

newly added booklet pdfs are not displayed in the corresponding album (after upgrade from iTunes to Music.app)https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/68705-newly-added-booklet-pdfs-are-not-displayed-in-the-corresponding-album-after-upgrade-from-itunes-to-musicapp/ Hello,

for years I have been managing my music library with iTunes. A very nice thing was when some day I found that I could even easily manage booklets (as pdf files) within iTunes: Just throw them into the "automatically add to itunes" folder, edit album- and album-artist-name and then the file gets automatically moved into the album folder and the booklet appears in that particular album just below the last track in the main window.

This week  switched to a new Mac with Music.app instead of iTunes. The import of the library went very smooth and reliable, existing booklet files were displayed within the corresponding albums just like before.

But now when I add a new album and add the booklet pdf just like before (including editing meta data), the pdf file still gets moved into the album folder, but within the Music.app window, the booklet file does not move into the album to get enlisted below the album tracks, it just remains on the highest level as if it was an album itself (see attached screeshot).

Of course I checked the correctness of tagging already. Could it be there is something in the settings that I need to change? Any idea how this behaviour could be fixed?

Best regards
Stefan

Will matched music disappearhttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/69529-will-matched-music-disappear/ I understand how Apple Music works but one question. If I have a matched album in Apple Music then later that album is removed from the service or a new reissue is released of the same title will my matched album disappear?

thanks

Songs not playing using Sirihttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/69667-songs-not-playing-using-siri/ When trying to play songs using Siri I get a response saying that song is not in your Apple Music library. The songs are in my music library yet it gives me that response. This does not happen every time but about 60% of the time. I can select the songs from my iPhone and they play without a problem. Thanks

Sorting recently added albumshttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/69216-sorting-recently-added-albums/ When I select the recently added tab in the Apple Music app, it shows all the albums in my library.

It used to show the date above the albums.  Did the setting change?  Thanks in advance.

iOS Music splitting albums in twohttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/68984-ios-music-splitting-albums-in-two/ Have a new iPhone 15 and just synced up my Music library from my Mac.

A lot of the albums have been split into 2 albums.

It seems random, but it is always one album with track 1 and another album with track 2 - n.

I checked the tracks on the Mac and all the meta data is identical for all 5 tracks (except for the Title) and obviously it is 1 album.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Nicholas

Time Delay program between Apple Music and Topping DM-7 8 Channel DAChttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/67700-time-delay-program-between-apple-music-and-topping-dm-7-8-channel-dac/ I've just implemented a 5.1.2 Atmos playback system with a Mac Mini M2, Apple Music and Topping DM-7 8 channel USB DAC. I'm adding 10ms of delay to four Rear and Height speakers using two stereo Behringer DSP units between the DAC and amp. This is a clunky solution (A/D > digital delay > D/A) and I'd prefer to add delay in the digital domain before the DAC.

I'm looking for a (hopefully) simple way of steering the output of Apple Music and/or Roon through a delay program before it goes to the DAC. I know Roon already has speaker time delay DSP, but until I'm able to steer Apple Music Atmos streams through Roon, that doesn't help me.

A musician friend told me about MAC plug-in hosts that performers use to process instruments/vocals in real time when rehearsing and playing live. That approach sounds promising but I don't know if Apple Music can be routed through a plug-in host on a MAC. Has anyone tried this for music streaming playback? Is there another way to add delay between Apple Music and DAC?

Thanks.

Russ

A better way to playback Apple Music inside ituneshttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/67841-a-better-way-to-playback-apple-music-inside-itunes/ I have been experimenting with the Apple Music app within itunes (under account pull down menu) within the Windows 11 OS environment

1. The overall Sound Quality while adequate for exploration of new music is not up to audiophile standards

2. The culprit is as usual the Windows Mixer. DAC drivers appear as under "Speaker .. 'your DAC ASIO driver name'"

And the sound is generally routed through the Windows Audio Device.

3. Playback of Apple Music tracks suffer from bloat in voices and instruments. This is in contrast to playback of local files using my Hqplayer at 44.1 khz PCM w/o upsampling.

4. With recommendations of @bogi under the Hqplayer forum, I downloaded this SW. Hificable and ASIO bridge :-

https://shop.vb-audio.com/en/win-apps/19-hifi-cable-asio-bridge.html

5. The 64bit version runs smoothly under Windows 11. U can see it as another driver under Sound settings ( I guess the Windows Mixer is still in there🥴)

6. The trial with this software was straight forward - once u go to all settings undet your DAC's ASIO panel to match the sample rate and buffer size to the settings under the ASIO bridge latency pull down menu

And also the sample rate setting under Windows Sound menu for the Hifi Cable (and ASIO bridge)

7. Upon launching Apple Music within itunes , I played a track but there was no sound

Until I enabled the ASIO panel button on th ASIO bridge control panel!

This provided ASIO input into my Gustard A26 DAC ( Gustard USB 2.0 driver)

8. The resulting SQ was more focus and precision! I am still testing this and will give more examples

But I compared itunes playback of the Doobie Brothers "Southbound" album using Speaker - Gustard USB 2.0

(A definite improvrment for very little expense)

and then through the Hifi Cable ASIO Bridge driver - Gustard USB 2.0

Try this if u want better SQ from your Apple Music thru your Windows 11 devices

Compilations in artist viewhttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/68016-compilations-in-artist-view/ I have four macs that serve as music storage for my homes.  I try to keep the Music App library  as consistent as possible in the four.  I selected artist view on the left of the app, and on three apps the list begins with compilations.  The fourth begins with an artist name alphabetically. I cannot find  a setting or preference to include compilations in the artist view.  What am I missing?  Thanks for you help.

MacOS: Best sounding Audio MIDI settings for Spotify?https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/67995-macos-best-sounding-audio-midi-settings-for-spotify/ AFAIK, the Spotify app for macOS decode Ogg Vorbis 320kbps to 16bit/44.1kHz.

So I set my Audio MIDI to 16/44.1 output.

I send this via USB to a Khadas Tone Board which performs 8x oversampling in this case.

Any experiences which settings sound best with Spotify and an external DAC?

Thx

Matt

Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE issue with Apple Musichttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/67842-holo-audio-spring-3-kte-issue-with-apple-music/ I have a Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE connected to my MacBook Pro via USB cable. When I attempt to play high-resolution lossless audio files in Apple Music, the Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE display shows that the audio is playing at 44.1K, which is not the expected sample rate for high-resolution files. However, when I use Audirvana to play high-resolution files, I do not encounter any issues. I am wondering what could be causing this problem.

iTunes store is screwed uphttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/67669-itunes-store-is-screwed-up/ I purchased part of an album from the iTunes store in 2007.  I wanted to complete the album today and the music app did not respond.  When I went to the iTunes store, it showed that I had not purchased any of  the songs.  I looked in my account to check on the date for information about my purchase and the dates only went back to 2020?  I called Apple support and they could not offer any assistance.  I believe my library is as complete as I need it to be, so I am giving up on any more purchases from Apple.  Just my 2 cents.

Shazam not automatically syncing to Apple Musichttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/67641-shazam-not-automatically-syncing-to-apple-music/ I have a large music collection in my iTunes library, ~90,000 tracks collected from many sources over the years, carefully categorized, often with custom album art, so there is no way I’m willing to risk iCloud syncing messing with that.

I just signed up for three free months of Apple Music, which I’ve never used before. The main reason I did was to be able to play any of the full tracks I’ve Shazamed. I can play those full tracks now in Shazam, but I can’t get them to show up as a playlist in Apple Music in either the Music IOS app or the Music Mac app, despite having Apple Music active and signed in. I have “Sync Shazams to Apple Music’ turned on in Shazam, but I don’t see that playlist in the Music apps. I do see that Shazam has access to my Apple Music account, in the Music app account settings.

Do I need to have “sync library” turned on in the Music App for Shazam playlists to show up in the Music apps? I don’t think I would want to do that.

Kirk, if you are reading this, I’ve owned previous versions of your iTunes FAQ books, but never paid attention to the Apple Music parts, since I wasn’t using it, and didn’t plan to. I just bought Take Control of Mac Media Apps, and am working my way through it. But doing a word search in the PDF for ‘Shazam” drew a blank. So I’m asking here. I know you you also have a very large iTunes library. Do you use iCloud sync for your iTunes library?

I need a new powersupply for an older MBP. I want to go for an Apple one and can use either the 60W or the 85W one. In my country (Germany) the price for both devices is the same.
Is the sound quality with the 85W unit higher than with the 60W unit?

Thx
