oso
highly recommended; Quote From the opening of 'Things We Did Last Summer' to the closing 'Chelsea Bridge' the sound of Simon Rigter's tenor saxophone on these carefully selected compositions, awakes a wealth of feelings; melancholy, tenderness, compassion and warmth. It's passion with controlled emotion, it’s a sound somewhere between a smile and a tear, a sound that touches your heart. christian u 1 Link to comment

Popular Post oso
The audiophile master is finally available; CARMEN GOMES INC. - STONES IN MY PASSWAY Quote ''Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Carmen Gomes Inc. is their aptitude for cutting to the core and realizing the essence of each song. This skill, combined with Carmen's ability to deeply connect with the mood of the lyrics, has reached new heights, as exemplified in their rendition of 'Little Queen of Spades'. The remarkable collaboration between Carmen Gomes Inc. and award-winning sound engineer Frans de Rond captures this sonic journey. Renowned for his expertise and innovative approach, Frans brings a cinematic dimension to the recordings, solidifying his status as an industry trailblazer. His groundbreaking "one mic+" technique, utilizing the central Josephson C700S microphone alongside additional Josephson C700A, C617 and C715 microphones, creates a balanced and immersive soundstage. Carmen Gomes Inc.'s recording of Robert Johnson's songs stands as a testament to their artistic vision and commitment to capturing the essence of the blues. Through their road movie-inspired soundscape approach and Frans de Rond's engineering prowess, they transport Johnson's music to the 21st century, validating its enduring beauty and ensuring its continued resonance with audiophiles and music enthusiasts alike.'' kumakuma and PAP 2 Link to comment

This is so well recorded that turning up the volume knob significantly only seems make the music even more intense not louder” "Stones In My Passway’ is part two of ‘’Discovering the music of Robert Johnson’’ series in which Carmen Gomes Inc. breathes new life into the musical legacy of Robert Johnson…. …The short atmospheric pieces between the tracks, where you are taken to the scene of the events like in a radio play, are a real treasure. Thus, the album opens with a beautiful intro where a passing train, wind noise, and a single guitar chord transports you to the deep south of the United States. …Carmen sings the blues straight from the heart, profoundly, with authenticity and heartfelt sincerity, eschewing any unnecessary embellishments. …Her band has mastered this repertoire completely. The slow tempos are beautifully exploited, with each musician contributing sparingly but with authority. In their renditions of Johnson's pieces, you feel the clammy, sweaty air in the ominous dark shady clubs, where the blues was interspersed with drinking parties.and fights…… Engineer Frans de Rond has captured the entire setting in a way that allows you to experience the superb interplay of these seasoned musicians. This is so well recorded that turning up the volume knob significantly only seems to make the music even more intense not louder.. With this release, an impressively good album has been added to Carmen's discography. My suggestion is to buy both part one (Up Jumped The Devil) and part two (Stones in My Passway as they don't fall short of each other and only become more precious with time.” S.v. Yes, also some outstanding photo quality of the cover (?, I may assume) ;-P - happens to all of us .... To share more of your information, you may want to write which conductor, which orchestra, which individual artist or which year, which edition, which record company are involved with that performance? Or just insert a link to a site which contains all or most of that information. For the photo - avoid copying from memory, rather upload the picture from your gallery on HD/SD using the function in the left down corner. from there you can insert the the picture with a double click. Thanks for updating, happy holidays and have a splendid start into 2024! Link to comment
MetalNuts
Doesn't the artwork already contain the orchestra and conductor information? I think I prefer the Witmer Trio "Free" versus Carmen Gomes "Don't You Cry" and Feen Brothers "Play Brubeck" musically, but the OneMic recordings have the best SQ. It seems to me these 3 are the new ultimate reference standard recordings. Despite Witmer Trio "Free" not being recorded 'live' in a OneMic session, each instrument sounds 'live'. Well done Sound Liaison you've raised the bar! The FeenBrothers recording is 40% off this week. Feenbrothers - Play Dave Brubeck Quote ''On this recording the audience is rather more present than on our other live recordings from Studio 2. We prefer not to have more than 80 people present in the studio. That number leaves us room to move around, change a cable or a microphone if needed, reposition the musicians if needed and so forth. But as fate would have it, the computer system keeping count of the tickets sold for the concert, had some kind of a breakdown so instead of 80 tickets, 110 were sold. Extra seats were brought in, so the audience ended up being very close to the band, creating a very lively atmosphere. And as Frans noticed during the extended applause following the end of the concert; "Look at the phase meter, it's practically straight in the middle, a phase coherent applaus!". audio.bill and botrytis 1 1 Link to comment

(Btw. it really is a great album. Carmen Gomes is getting up there. Gorgeous horn like phrasing and the joy in her voice when she sings; "don't sit there mumbling talkin' trash, if you wanna have a ball....") .
