Norah's 9th album is a below average fidelity, the mix is missing something, compressed to the moon.

DR's attached for the Redbook and 96.

When previewing on Qobuz, thought, it was the music is overloaded, distorted, the downloads are not much better.

Listening to it now on Qobuz. Not the greatest sounding album, but not terrible. My main impression is that the bass and upper mids are too dominant. But that gives it a bit of a thick sound, maybe that's what she wanted.

Main listening (small home office):

Main setup: Surge protectors +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Protection>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three BXT (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments.

Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT

Bedroom: SBTouch to Edifer M1380 system.

Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare.

All absolute statements about audio are false :)

I listed to it from Qobuz and thought the mix was horrible.  At first I thought it was a mono recording, basically no sound stage.  The music itself wasn't good enough to keep me listening.

Her first LP while nice also had a horrible mix.

I listened to this one as well and just couldn’t get into it. There was no emotional pull into the music for me, perhaps because the sound was just blah.

... especially compared to some of her other albums, which are among my favorites.

Disappointing.

Even the Atmos tracks were boring.

I am in agreement with the above. I certainly thought the recording quality was not on par with her usual high standards. More importantly I did not enjoy the songs. I had jplay streamed this album to my car on Saturday, taking the kids to downtown.  The music itself was so uninspiring(boring) I almost fell asleep driving on the highway!!!

On the return trip, I listened to Cyrille’s new album, and even my 6 year old son and 3 year old girl enjoyed the album much more!!
