Only $300 for the the 10CD + book set.

I'm a big fan, but not going to pay that. I know most of the additional material will rarely be listened to.

I can't imagine it will be a big seller at that price.

Will probably go down in price after the release.

Main listening (small home office):

Main setup: Surge protectors +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Protection>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three BXT (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments.

Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT

Bedroom: SBTouch to Edifer M1380 system.

Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare.

All absolute statements about audio are false :)

So far, this is the only way to get the TrueHD Atmos version :~(

I’ll probably get it.

Yep, thought of you when I saw it. My guess is that the marketing people are going to keep it that way; they probably think people with a full ATMOS setup will pay the price.

I am a little embarrassed at how long I had to think about that title before it made sense to me.

I agree...I thought it was another backyard upgrade.

Have to say I'm disappointed there isn't a stereo remix, with only the multi-channel (blu-ray, box set) getting a remix.

There have been some fantastic sounding stereo remixes of classic rock in the last few years, I wish this had been another attempt.

Maybe it's all part of the marketing plan.

So today is the release day.

I got the 6CD set on Qobuz streaming.

Oddly, if purchasing downloads the 2CD version is only available from Qobuz as a Redbook download; at ProStudioMasters it is available in 24/96 and for less than the Redbook at Qobuz.

Any thoughts on the sound and extra tracks?

Sound is good. No revelation there, but it's good.

The extra tracks: a lot has been released before and if you're a big Who fan, you aren't surprised by a lot.

There's stuff like Towshend's demos of the songs (which are sometimes very different arrangements, and interesting). But not something you'll make part of your regular rotation.

There's the extensive sessions they did at Olympic the Record Plant studios, I think, that was later abandoned and they re-recorded most of the material for Who's Next. But the abandoned material is actually good. Just not as good as what they released in the end.

There's a lot of live recordings of the same material from the period. Really good, as you would expect from the Who at this point in their career

I anxiously await the billion dollar boxed set's arrival :~)

Any further comments by those of you who have the box and have listened? I'm a lifelong Who and Pete fan but have only ever found access to few smidgeons of Lifehouse. I'm especially eager to hear the Blu_Ray with the Steven Wilson Atmos remixes. Is the set worth my $300.00?

My guess is that a standalone Blu-ray will be released at some point. That’s what happened with Dark Side of the Moon.

This is a fantastic Atmos mix and I’m glad I got it.
