PAP
Native DSD Album of the Year 2023 ; You can vote HERE, Album of the YEAR. Good but sometimes strange selection to vote on, as an example see the vocal selection; It contains 2 albums recorded and released in 2023; The personal favorite of mine and a few others here on this forum; 'STONES IN MY PASSWAY' by CARMEN GOMES INC. Quote “The intimacy of the vocals, the expression of the guitar, the refined sounds of the double bass, and the dynamics of the drums…. It's music that invites immersion, and a phenomenal experience on a refined hi-fi set!" Hifi.NL and Ayanna Witter-Johnson & the LSO Percussion Ensemble interesting live recording; Quote This album showcases Witter-Johnson's special partnership with the LSO Percussion Ensemble, where her choice of rhythms and harmony and use of percussion all have symbolic meaning in relation to the songs' deep inspiration. But the next two are more problematic. Patricia Barber's Modern Cool may be new to the NATIVE DSD's website, but it was released in 1998. ( I must add that it's a great album and one of my favorite Patricia albums but it was my choice of album of the year back in 1998 😀) Quote 'This is a highly expressive and entertaining album, one that for those not familiar with Patricia Barber will serve as a superb introduction.' soundstage! The last in the vocal section is a compilation of; "Jazz Legends like Billie Holiday, Ben Webster, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Sarah Vaughan, alongside Today’s Jazz Stars such as Aubrey Logan, Bill Cantos, Diana Panton, Holly Cole, Polly Gibbons and The L.A. Network." All good but to me that's not an album....it's a playlist....ok, I could listen to Shirley Horn singing 'Dindi' all night but I prefer to put on the original album and not have Shirley mixed up with tracks featuring electronic keyboards such as Aubrey Logan's The Remembering Song, they don't fit together in my opinion and again to call a playlist a, ALBUM,...hmm. christian u 1 Link to comment

I don’t disagree with anything you said. christian u 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
Popular Post JoeWhip
The Carmen Gomes album is spectacular. Frans mixed a sample Atmos track for me which sounds great as well. Hopefully that will see the light of day in 2024. PAP and christian u 2 Link to comment
christian u
in my opinion an Album of the Year award should be about actual releases and not compilations and remasters. . Link to comment
