Whats your opinion about the latest Johnny Cash release called “Songwriter”

Recommended Posts

Hi folkies,
End of June (28th) the son of Johnny Cash, John Carter Cash, has published a virtual remake of existing tapes from his father with additional support of old friends  and recent musicians.

“Songwriter” is the 72nd studio album (and fifth posthumously released studio album) by Johnny Cash. The album contains 11 original songs written and recorded by Johnny Cash in 1993, but never released until now
Some of the stuff – to my ears – sounds like I would imagine AI generated content: The voice is a bit to high pitched and a bit too clear.
O
thesr are “pure gold”, like i.e. “Drive on”.
Even Dan Aurebach is on board.

Whats your idea about this “heritage exploitation”?
Pesonally, I am happy they did it, even not all is perfect..

I am really enjoying it. Its a great "sounding" album and yes very modern sounding. But its on pretty regular rotation at my house and it brings a smile to my ears whenever it comes on. YMMV
