Can a single LPS power both my DAC and Streamer?

Looking to Minimize my Current Audio Setup. Need advice.https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/54778-looking-to-minimize-my-current-audio-setup-need-advice/ Sorry if this is in the wrong category. I was not sure where to ask it at.

I am using a rather bulky setup to enhance my video game experience (see attached photo).

I chose this setup because I have bad hearing due to my time as an infantry marine. The set up that I use, has allowed me to adjust the frequencies that I have a hard time hearing, while minimizing the ones that I can hear just fine. This has really helped when playing FPS games that rely heavily on audio (siege, pubg).

Note, I wanted the mixing board, because as you can see, I am running audio to it from the MB sound port, as well as my Asus sound card. Doing this allows me to have a manual control over game volume, and manual control over voice chat volume. This is very handy when in a spot where I need to hear one or the other more strongly.

While this system has been handy, there are a few things that I do not much care for about it.

1) The o/p mixing board. As much as I enjoy being able to have the controls that the mixing board provides, its overall shape and size make for a hard way of setting it up around my computer. I also do not need to have 6 channels within it. This adds to the size of the thing, and again, that is one of the issues. I am looking to replace it with something smaller, that has no cables on the top or front. Just a small 2 channel volume control system (with maybe H,M,L control) that I could maybe set under my monitor or some other convenient location, without all of the cables displaying. If you look at the second photo attached, you can see that the mixing board sits on top with all the cables stick out. I'd much rather have something that I could put into the box below it, with a cut out for displaying the face only. TLDR, I would like to keep the features of the mixer, but in a smaller, prettier device.

2) The I/P mixer. I use this to be able to control my microphone. If my wife or kids walk in while I'm in a game to talk about life, I can use it to easily turn down my microphone without having to alt tab out of the game. The mixer is also silly shaped like the O/P one. It is oddly shaped, and has a too many channels again. I only need 1 input and output for the device, and just need to control the volume with it.

3) The Amp. The amp that I have is a 4 channel headphone amp. This thing is overkill, and takes a lot of space in the wooden box. I do not need a 4 channel amp, just a single. So, something smaller with one channel would be fantastic.

4) The EQ size. I am not certain if I really need an EQ that is almost 20 inches wide. I do like having all of the frequencies (20 up to 20k), but if there was something out there smaller, and with a controller for both left and right in one instead of the current one that has a separate control for each side, I would prefer to go with that.

When I originally purchased all my stuff, I did so off amazon, and only did research with the little knowledge I had, so I was fine with buying all of the equipment as it was. I am in the process of rearranging my computer setup, and I think that it would be nice to go ahead and knock out the replacement audio equipment now.

My ultimate goal, is to try to make this whole set up as small as possible, without sacrificing quality, just eliminating all the unused aspects of the equipment.

So, I guess my question is, Do you have any recommendations for this?

Thank you

Electrical Isolation: Fiber Media Converter vs Copper RJ-45 Transceiver Moduleshttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/56493-electrical-isolation-fiber-media-converter-vs-copper-rj-45-transceiver-modules/ About a two years ago I started on a journey of switching over my LAN almost entirely to fiber. Part of the mix are FMCs (e.g. TP Link MC220L with LPS), a hub entirely of SFP+ ports that sits right after my router, and some legacy copper hardware. I am very happy with the performance and will stay with fiber until something better comes along. Read: for the foreseeable future.

As part of research leading to a cleaning up/reconfiguring my LAN, I have learned more about RJ-45 transceiver modules (e.g Cisco SFP-10G-T-S Compatible 10GBASE-T SFP+ Copper RJ-45 30m Transceiver Module). I know these modules will work with my equipment...and it would offer opportunity to eliminate most/all of the FMCs, have fewer power supplies, and plug directly into my SFP+ ported hub.

Question: Do these transceiver modules offer more, less, or equivalent electrical isolation relative to fiber media converters? Whatever your answer is...why is that the answer?

I *suspect* its equivalent because the copper/fiber transition is merely happening within the transceiver module instead of the FMC. But, that is speculation on my part...and have not found anything in my research (so far) that answers the question.

Thanks.

Should we be using Ambiophonics with stereo speakers?https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/54674-should-we-be-using-ambiophonics-with-stereo-speakers/ Is Ambiophonics essentially binaural DSP for non-headphone users? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Does it operate both in the frequency and time domains?

Need some assistance with AK70 MKII and Mojo pleasehttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/54422-need-some-assistance-with-ak70-mkii-and-mojo-please/ Hello all,

Brand new account. I just, this week, recieved my new AK70 MKII and Mojo amp. Heck, I even bought the set case, with button snaps on the backs, for pairing the two devices. The fact that such a case exists, implies to me that this is a fairly popular pairing. I first purchased a Moon-Audio Dragon TOSLINK mini to TOSLINK standard to connect the two, snd after turning them on I got no audio.

The lights on all 3 Mojo buttons light up, and the power button light goes out, while the volume buttons remain lit.

I spoke to Moon-Audio, and was told I had ordered the wrong cable, that I needed a mini USB to mini USB cable to pair the two devices, which I order. Used the USB cable, with the exact same results. At no time were both cables connected simultaneously.

I have only tried using 320kbs .mp3 files, so as to avoid a codec or bitrate issue.

Does anyone possibly have any suggestions? Personally, I believe the problem lies in the Mojo, but not clear. First off, the AK70 MKII works perfectly fine on it's own, but I also tried connecting a know working optical cable to the amp, it is a cable that I actually have in place to use with an old Headroom portable Desktop amp, and verified it is working, but I still get the exact same results with the Mojo, with the power button light going dark, and no audio.

Any help anyone might provide would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance.

DSPeaker measurements into Audirvana? Via REW?https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/54484-dspeaker-measurements-into-audirvana-via-rew/ Hi all,

My DSPeaker Anti Mode 2.0 exports both 'before' and 'after' room correction measurements that can be loaded into REW.

I wondered if there's a way to use these measurements in Audirvana (maybe via an AU plugin?) - allowing me to remove the Anti Mode from my system and play high res music at native sample rates, rather than them being downsampled to 48kHz.

Is there a way to do this?

Many thanks in advance,

James

Recommendation for software to display effect of similar filters.https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/54559-recommendation-for-software-to-display-effect-of-similar-filters/ I have been pursuing releases from the predawn alpenglow of CD production lately. This has introduced the need to deal with pre-emphasis when ripping and playing back these discs. Means to deal with a RIAA curve are well documented and easily researched. The RIAA curve should be a mathematical constant. How it is implemented seems to differ.

What I would like to know is what software would best illustrate the effect de-emphasis has produced on these files. Further on from that I would like to see the subtle differences across copies of a song resulting from attempts to correct it using the various means. The expectation is 1/2 db variance averaged across the entire file. I'm having doubts based on listening alone that equal amounts are being removed at the same points.

This Japanese produced CD was bought specifically for the experiment. It is recognized on all expansive lists of CD's pre-emphasis was applied to. Between the Moncler jacket and stunning color reproduction of his headband on the actual booklet this was an easy choice.

Rega R5 Combohttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/54863-rega-r5-combo/ I was visiting my sister's new place for the holiday's and the previous owners left behind a pair of Rega R5's. My sister is more of a Sonos kind of woman (lol), so she said I could have them if I paid shipping costs. I need to get a receiver/amp still, but my question is more regarding possibly adding a center channel in order to make it a home theater setup and/or music listening room.

I've heard adding a center with different timbre can affect the overall experience substantially, so do you all have any recommendations for a center channel? Or should I just sell them and get something more geared towards what I'll be using it for?

Best regards,

Alex

Unable to send ITunes through to my stereohttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/55312-unable-to-send-itunes-through-to-my-stereo/ I'm trying to set up a Mac Mini running 10.13.6. I used to have a much older mini that died soon after the NAS holding my music passed away. I had set it up many years ago from info found on Computer Audiophile. Unfortunately I can't find those how-to instructions anymore, which is a pity as they were comprehensive.

Anyway, the mini should output to a DAC (micromega mydac) and thence to my stereo via RCA cords. When I look in the Audio Midi setup utility for output options it only displays the mini's internal speakers. I've also looked at the Sound under System Preferences and ITunes Preferences, but see nothing to help.

I can't figure out what is different from this set up from my last other than a new NAS holding all the music and a newer mini.

So I'm resolved to start completely anew. If anyone can point me to those old tutorials or other advice I'd be very grateful.

Hiss from studio monitors with Mic Connected to PChttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/55618-hiss-from-studio-monitors-with-mic-connected-to-pc/ Thank you for allowing me to join the forum, and I hope that my question is not misplaced.

I have a nice Hi Fi set up for my living room and I wanted to ask you about my office set-up. I play Spotify via a pair of Rokit 5 studio monitors, via a Nano Patch attenuator and a Mix5 deck, plugged into an Acer Aspire windows 10 desktop, via the rear input. It's a long story...but it was originally my set-up to play an EWI with backing tracks from the computer, mixed down with the Mix5 and Nano patch.

My question is a fairly simple one. When I connect a microphone (a Rode Stereo Pro) into the mic input next to the speaker input at the back of the desktop, I get a hissing sound from the speakers. This is with the mic on or off (and it's usually off). It gets louder if I turn up the attenuator. It goes away if I unplug the mic. Can anyone suggest how it might be possible to leave the mic plugged in, and not hear the hiss?

Thanks for any replies and I hope, again, that I've not hijacked the forum!

bel canto LightLink problemhttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/55995-bel-canto-lightlink-problem/ I am trying to use the bel canto LightLink to connect from computer to my bel canto DAC without success. Doesn't work with my phone, either. Both PC and phone will output signal to a DAC/AMP without a hitch using USB cable. DAC is set to ST as input selection. Have checked all of the cable connections and amp's input selection setting. What could be going wrong?

Is that unreasonable?

<![CDATA[A&K/JH Diana Iem]]>https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/56763-akjh-diana-iem/ Hi everyone!

I had an initial budget of 900usd to spend on a DAC and IEMs. On my first naïve thoughts I was thinking spending about 50/50 on each.

After having been advised from many of you I decided to buy an IEM that will bring me joy, happiness and more important quality and reliability for the coming years – The IEM is The Diana from A&K/ JH audio. The IEM alone cost practically my budget (700usd).

My question is: do you think I can have/buy a DAP player for 200/300usd that can let’s say “support” the IEM or for such level of IEMs a player of 200usd will not “add” nothing.

Should I save that money and listen the IEMs on my Samsung Note 9 as “the source”? or do you recommend a DAP?

Thank you all!

Physical rotary control for volume using Allo Relay Attenuatorhttps://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/56380-physical-rotary-control-for-volume-using-allo-relay-attenuator/ Hi

I am creating a streaming box using

Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Allo Boss Dac 1.2

Allo Relay Attenuator

Volumio

I realize I can use Volumio to control volume but I prefer physical controls for this project.

I see how +/- buttons can be used to control volume via the relay attenuator - but could I use a rotary volume control? Is that even possible with Volumio?

Thanks!
