Popular Post steveoat
Given the increasing using of multichannel formats (Dolby Atmos, multichannel dsf, blu-ray audio) I wish that quality audio companies would start to offer higher audio quality devices. I have a Denon 4800H, and while is it OK, it does not have the audio quality of even cheaper components like those made by Schiit Audio. I hope these companies reconsider. Another feature I hope companies that make streamers consider. I have a zidoo UHD8000 and it has an audio only HDMI output that outputs high quality multichannel flac and dsf streams. I hope that companies like Lumin, Auralic and even NAD consider this. Audiophile Neuroscience and The Computer Audiophile 2 Link to comment

JoeWhip
I happen to think that Anthem AVRs and separates sound fantastic. My Anthem certainly sounds better than my older Marantz by a good margin. Link to comment

loop7
This is an interesting topic. As examples, premium D'Agostino or Esoteric multichannel systems might shake things up for the reviewers, in a positive way. Link to comment

Merging Hapi Mk2 is the role of AES67 -> AES3 DDC for main, center and surround channels (send to Esoteric mono or stereo DACs respectively) and additional MCH DACs (DA8P expansion card) for other channels. Norton
As a poor Brit I’ve been looking at setting up a mch/immersive system on a budget. What seems to be lacking is a 10 + channel processor/dac/pre that can handle native DSD mch and decode ATMOS, with accent on SQ over features and a sub £2k price tag. Power amps to be added to taste, although there is still limited budget audiophile choice there too. Link to comment

We really need a quality pre processor that sounds good (under $2500) and meets the specs you describe. Power amps are not the issue. Link to comment
Popular Post AcousticTheory
Home theater receivers and pre-pros are actually incredibly expensive to develop, and complex. Emotiva has been more transparent about this than most companies; rapidly changing standards for things such as HDMI, HDCP, HDR, etc. have resulted in multiple revisions to internal modules; Emotiva's modular design has enabled them to keep up with this but it is still a treadmill that most pragmatic manufacturers of hi-fi gear would prefer not to even set foot upon, for that reason alone. This is right on the money. Nearly all HiFi manufacturers who’ve tried this have lost money. Most would rather license it all from someone else (McIntosh using Lyngdorf as an example).
