There was a similar poll back in 2018 – please don’t link to it at this stage but it will be of some interest later to compare

Voter names are not made public

The price is for brand new non-discounted recommended retail of all hifi gear inclusive of all cables, room treatments (if any) and paraphernalia excluding physical media (vinyl collections etc)

What’s the goal of this poll?

It is interesting to see what people spend on their systems and how that may have changed since 2018 in a particular population (allowing for inflation etc). Any conclusions are always open to interpretation but I see nothing nefarious.

47 voters. A trend is developing but it would be nice to get 100 votes. No names are listed as per my poll settings (but not sure if @The Computer Audiophile can see names)

Hmmm...I count only 41.  I counted because the responses are considerably higher $ than I would have expected from reading AS.  Or maybe members with lower $ value systems post more frequently?  Or maybe this is my own bias seeping in?

Keep in mind that less than 1% of readers post on the site.

I'm a long-time DIY'er, mostly in the Pass realm, using an RPi/Moode/ProtoDAC 1387 X8 on the digital side. I checked the box for the lowest category, but that was for retail items that were whole commercial system components in our usual sense. Perhaps my vote should not be counted in your final summation.

Yes, I agree and there may be a number of reasons for the apparent discrepancy.

That is an extremely interesting figure

Your vote should absolutely count as much as mine in the second highest category.

I might also be incorrectly counted in the highest $ category in that I think I may have ticked the highest category by incorrectly entering Australian dollars, then tried to correct it. I cannot see or change the votes. There are two in that top tier.

Not wanting to get into any interpretations at this stage but just an observation on my part FWIW/IMO. At its conception I saw CA as very much technology driven site on the back of such things as computer based servers that naturally lended itself to DIYers. That included myself regarding using a computer front end and then choosing playback software. It has grown since then but never forgetting its roots. ......./

Like AN, I find this very surprising.  Are you sure you're not counting bots? (I'm clueless on internet tech, I hope this is not an insulting question)  Or maybe some readers come only once or twice after Googling a specific topic?  Is there a way to count regular (weekly? monthly?) readers?

Oh yes. All of it.

I’ve also experienced this subjectively at every show and dealer event. People always tell me they are just readers. They feel guilty saying it in a way, but I totally understand. Forums aren’t for everyone.
