Not sure how many folks know about this (not seen it mentioned here yet) series of immersive 24/192kHz high-res reissues that Rhino is releasing quarterly now as of this past summer. I'm so completely in stoked about these "Quadio" discs finally coming out now - four at a time every three months or so. Originally mixed to quad in the 70's and issued on various formats back then including LPs, 8-Track tapes, and sometimes Reel-to-Reel tapes. These are of course all-analog "period" mixes, and often with the original album producers and engineers involved. These Blu-Ray discs feature not only the 4.0 Quadraphonic 70's mixes in 24/192kHz, but new Hi-Resolution remastering of the stereo mixes as well. They come in SACD style "Super Jewel" cases which I think is pretty cool. And in my opinion the previous releases have been very high-quality, and solid musical choices, with no duds in any way. Great music - and all with very fine sounding 4.0 quad mixes that hold up well next to the more modern 5.1 surround things we've seen over the past decade plus. A great thing here is the series has been (since June '23) releasing 4 titles every three months with the next four Quadio BRs coming up for us on Jan. 19th 2024. Not only that, but look at the strong artist/album titles that they have issued below. It's all about the music for me really regardless if it is in immersive surround or just high-res stereo. These titles really do hit the spot imo. In fact I think that Rhino's "Quadio" series qualifies as the finest reissue series of 70's original quad masters ever undertaken by any label. Title for title the quality of the 4.0 mixes, mastering and choice titles from Warner, Reprise, Atlantic labels is pretty stellar. San Francisco's KQED public broadcasting station has produced an excellent 25-minute video "The Making of Gabrieli" which is now available for your viewing enjoyment on YouTube. The video tells the story of how the nation's best brass players were assembled as the National Brass Ensemble to re-create and perform a historic 1968 recording of sacred music by the great Italian Renaissance composer Giovanni Gabrieli — and also lay down a new work specially written for them by American film composer John Williams. It includes scenes from the session rehearsals at Sonoma State University and the recording session at Skywalker Sound with Five/Four Productions recording engineer Michael Bishop. The album is available as a Surround Sound SACD from Amazon and other sellers and as a Stereo and Surround Sound DSD Download from NativeDSD Music. https://ww2.kqed.org/arts/2017/06/22/exclusive-watch-brass-music-all-stars-shred-at-skywalker-sound/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHs4W3bdReI https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014E1TMHC/ https://oberlinmusic.nativedsd.com/albums/1122

The London Symphony Orchestra has an early release of their new album "An Imaginary Orchestral Journey" which features the music of Haydn conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. Listened to it here in DSD Surround Sound. First off I'm really new/noob when it comes to surround sound. But I got it working. But my problem is that I can't seem to find a way to use ALL the speakers whenever I want to play music and such. My setup is a "Xonar U5" hooked up with usb. it's connected with 2x2.1 trough 3.5mm. I don't know if it might be good to point out that each set of speakers is connected to a subwoffer (with RCA) that provides power. Been searching for days but it hasn't given any results the most valid answer (which didn't work) involved going into volume control > Xonar u5 properties > enchantments and check the box for "Stereo fill".. But I don't even have that tab. So what can I do? I don't want anything fancy like 5.1 music just plain old sound trough all the system. /Omen

Im almost positive that I'd have to go with the Creative Lab: SoundBlaster ZxR to hook up the 7.1 system (I also want it to have the highest quality surround sound features as well... I'm just starting out myy degree in Audio/Music Video Editing but I am making enough from my dad's Premium Cigar shop overtime hours that he gives me and I am spending nothing so that I can afford to get this equipment. I need the best audio/visiual editing software as well. (I don't need wireless speakers, but I do need the best subwoofer their is.) I want to have this Professional grade studio done by the time I'm out of college because I want to get to work on doing Awsome audio/visiual editing... I won't turn out mp3 garbage. But right now I have things covered perfectly on the visiual side of things. Anyways I just started my Degree so I really don't know what all to buy. I know a high end 7.1 Channel surround sound system, I already know that SoundBlaster is by far the easyiest to edit with, But I don't know what cables or anything else.
