Thank you for the reply.

so I guess you and others are seeing the same error message.

it has been happening intermittently for a while. I was hoping that the next release would have cured it.

hopefully the next release will fix this issue.

it didn’t used to be an issue.

Recently I was rearranging my UPnP end point. Euphony doesn't like that and is refusing to allow me to see the new setup. Robert from support says:

" When you deactivated UPNP then it is difficult to go back. We are preparing update (soon to be available) which will enable restoring scan of UPNP after deactivation. "

Just in case others are facing this issue..

It's not their server, it's my system. An external Euphony USB with 202305 boots fine. Tried to do the "repair" into both partition 2 and 3, but the internal drive still doesn't boot normally.

Waiting for them to remote in and look around. I really wouldn't want to reinstall fresh again having recently been forced to do so. Takes a weeks work messing around to get the music back in place (in all the wrong order), missing covers, album splits back together again despite no obvious reason and settings back up to normal again. Just too much work.

Hey Paul, it was for a different reason this time. For no apparent reason, the internal 20240701 just wouldn’t boot up. But an external usb drive with 20230531 worked fine.

Tried the repair process from USB to internal but that didn’t help. Finally used another internal drive for the boot. Asked Robert to remote in to check that partition but he refused, saying the second internal drive caused boot confusion. Hmmm

I think it’s not something affecting others here. All a moot point soon as Pink Faun has their own OS in beta and I’m hoping to try that once it’s ready.

I keep coming back here to figure out what exactly happened to Euphony, or more precisely, what is the vision behind this once and still stellar software—at least in audio terms. Should we let go of it, as I did, and as PinkFaun seems to as well, or is it still worth holding onto? For those of you wondering where they are headed, this August 10, 2024 article might be an interesting (if not bewildering) read. I’m curious to hear your thoughts!

STEPPING BACKWARDS TO MOVE FORWARD IN MY DIGITAL STREAMING SYSTEM

Tom Gibbs  August 10, 2024

(…) Here’s where the Mozzaik upsampler comes into the picture. With Devcic having been an active participant in its developmental trials, and with almost two years of evaluation of the Mozzaik software in combination with Euphony equipment, he and Dalibor are impressed with its capabilities, and especially its musicality.(…)

(…) In effect, what Dalibor was asking me to do was remove nearly $8000 in equipment from my system, and replace it with a DAC only slightly larger than a deck of cards that retails for $150. Adding insult to injury, I’d also be removing the i²S connection and replacing it with what I regarded as an inferior connection—USB. (…)

(…) Compared to my previous digital source system with either the E70 Velvet or Gustard X26 Pro DACs, the sound of DSD files was now mind-bogglingly good. (…)

(…) Euphony is in the process of building a statement, single-box streaming solution that will include dual motherboards to separate the streaming and server functions as in their dual-box Summus/Endpoint setup. The new system will also include the latest implementation of Mozzaik’s software, which will upsample everything to DSD128.(…)

I'm desperately waiting to get an update from Jord about this. Euphony today already sounds very good once tuned so for PF to say they've managed to come up with something better is really something special. More so since the new OS works with Roon - finally I can get all my music together, sorted by added date!

I must admit it is very strange:

Some say the new OS has been launched several weeks ago and others say it is still in beta.

I think Jord should clarify.
