Thanks for writing this description of low-end sound quality. This is about as good a description as I have ever read. When one goes to a concert, bass is fast, with texture and timber in a natural way from a particular point in space. Listen to the big bass drum from "Hotel California" on "Hell Freezes Over" or the organ on "Cantate Domino". When everything is dialed in the bass is tight and articulate and originates from a point in space and is not enveloping in the least. Infrasonics show up a well. I can feel vibration from the concrete floor in my basement. Better yet, achieving this means the rest of the spectrum is tighter, at times revealing accompanying instruments never heard before, improved transients and a new level of clarity with 3d imaging. The most succinct way to describe this is going from a "Smearstream to Clearstream". Just amazing when you can achieve it Here are some DAC cables of various brands and lengths used here to achieve this level of sound quality, -
My 2013 Nissan Pathfinder has analog audio and video inputs. I use an apple iphone HDMI adapter and then a hdmi to analog audio/video converter for sound and video into the cars inputs. It can stream directly to the 8 inch display in the middle of the dashboard and the OEM audio system.

Vibration Discussion Split Off From Direct Attached Cables
lmitche replied to lmitche's topic in General Forum
Hmm, maybe not good. I'd say the only vibration you want to feel is air. Well vibration does occur naturally without amplification. I regularly attend concerts at Yale University's Woolsey hall and the deep bass from the organ gets everything moving. -

Article: Review - The WATT/Puppy from Wilson Audio
lmitche replied to The Computer Audiophile's topic in Article Comments
At some point my dealer reached out to Wilson and ordered replacement bituminous discs and the wet suit rubber like driver surrounds adhered to the front face of both the WATT and Puppies. It was nasty work removing the old material. Nevertheless, it was worth the effort as 10+ years later, there is no disintegration or sliding. -

Be careful with cable length and passive DAC cables. I have sfp+ devices that work perfectly with 10g fiber at 10 meters but stutter with 24awg DAC cables of the same length. -

I am always surprised at the impact of removing the 3 sound filters in Roon. -

Over here, the Watt /Puppies are truth tellers. Changes in the upstream components, interconnects and even playback and OS software settings can make a huge difference in sound quality, especially in the bass region. Placement and component matching is critical. Regardless of price, poorly matched components can sound just awful. Boomy bass is one of many factors that can be out of whack. Nevertheless, when everything is matched and placed properly, they sound fantastic with fast, articulate, and realistic bass response that I have never heard from competing speakers. -

I was wrong, watt puppy 5s are heavier at 324 lbs per pair according to Stereophile. Lol, Larry -

I love my 25 year old Watt/Puppy 5.1s! Does anyone know how much the new edition weigh? Mine are at least 200 lbs for the pair. -
Streaming Music Receiver SR11 (fiio.com) It will be interesting to see how this sounds at $99.

Not a band per se, something not to miss. The Louis Armstrong House Museum - Jazz History Comes To Life In Corona We went last weekend, and the one-hour house tour is spectacular. Louis died in 1971, his wife in 1983 and the house sat as an empty time capsule until the museum opened less than a year ago. The house, and museum building across the street, is very close to LaGuardia airport. Louis's (custom?) Grundig Majestic stereo console is in the living room, with a reel to reel tape player, radio and turntable in the cabinet. Highly recommended! Larry

Optical Network Configurations

Best to use fiber, or another ground isolating solution, to avoid creating ground loops. Copper cul-de-sacs are good, with isolating links placed to avoid a second route to ground. Besides fiber, usb isolators, isolated power supplies and transformers can also be used to break ground loops. All four isolating solutions are in use here.
