Popular Post The Computer Audiophile
Hi Guys, I figured I'd start an "official"JPLAY for iOS topic, similar to all the other "official" topics, that have been running for many years. This will be a good place to centralize the conversation for this app. The main JPLAY/JCAT section is here - https://audiophilestyle.com/clubs/7-jplay/, where @Marcin_gps has setup shop here on AS to discuss all his products. The JPLAY for iOS website is here - https://jplay.app I'm working on a full review of JPLAY for iOS as well. The Computer Audiophile
I should also note that JPLAY for iOS has a partner program for manufacturers. If people want to see manufacturers of their hardware support JPLAY for iOS, they may want to reach out to the manufacturers. I know they listen to customers about this stuff. They are often too busy to follow the developments themselves. https://jplay.app/partner-program Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

I'm happy to provide any logs or debugging info you may need, but JPlay is the only app that has issue discovering my servers and renderer. So I do not believe the problem is on my end. Additionally, my solution with MPD is the exact same thing used in sonore products Sonore products have the option to function like UPnP or openHome renderers. There's a check box for apps like JRiver to work with them etc... Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

Please see my connection diagram: ericcatz That's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. VPN, if it routes traffic through the VPN, would make it so nothing on your network can be seen by your device. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

This is true in My Library and Local Network Artists view . AlbumArtist tag is shown only in album details view . A workaround could be to use the Artist.merge property in Minimserver tagValue option that should be as follow: Artist.merge={AlbumArtist} in this way Artist and AlbumArtist will be merged in the Artist tag. To use this property the paid Minimserver is needed. Gapless is not a Minimserver “thing” in the sense that it works without exception, I use SOtM sMS200/MPD&DLNA, RoPieeeXL/UPNP/DLNA (on Raspberry Pi4) and HQPlayer embedded as UPNP renderers without any gapless issue. Gapless mostly depends on the renderer and not on the UPNP server (Minimserver) at all. What renderer are you using and which is its configuration in JPlay? This seems to be a issue due to some damaged tracks and the conversion to dsf that works is a proof. It happened to me too and I solved it opening the tracks in Audacity and exporting them as flac again. …. it seems that the root causes of your issues are not related to Minimserver then switching to another mediaserver will not solve them. I’m a long time (10 years more or less) Minimserver user and I know it quite well, if you need some support please ask, I’ll be glad to help you. I knew you'd come through with such great information. P.S. I'm working on my JPLAY iOS review and keep asking myself, I wonder if @stefano_mbp will be correcting half of what I write because he eats, sleeps, and breathes this stuff :~) Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

The Computer Audiophile
4 minutes ago, JazzDoc2 said: I have just stopped using JPLAY iOS in my dual PC JPLAY Femto setup, six months into my subscription. I found that there were issues with the display of cover art which, while annoying, were not a deal breaker. I stopped using it due to the fact that selecting an album would, on a daily basis, result in the playback of a completely different album, although the JPLAY iOS screen displayed the selected album. All customer support provided by PLAY failed to fix the problem. It's not for me. I've gone back to BubbleUPnP. It doesn't sound quite as good as JPLAY iOS but it works 100% reliably. Very strange. I use it all the time and have never seen that. I wonder why that happens. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

I am currently contemplating some future aspects to increase my pleasure, a.o. using an iPad as control point instead of my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I‘d like to get some recommends and considerations from the community: - Does JPLAY run on any iPad, excluding maybe the oldest ones? - Which specs should I take into account, and in which order? - - 1. Processing power, thus M2 chip? - - 2. RAM space? - - 3. Storage? How much, 256 or 512 GB? - - 4. Guess I don‘t need cellular, just WiFi - - 5. Screen size? - - 6. Longevity, in particular the prospects of receiving OS upgrades / updates for how long - - 7. New model around the corner in fall 2024? If you guessed that this hints at the current iPad Pro 11" (Fall 2022, with 256 or 512 GB), then you guessed correctly. Thanks a lot in advance for any recommendations you could give, and - maybe even more important - any caveats like which models to avoid wrt JPLAY for iOS. 111MilesToGo and Marcin_gps 1 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

I would like to use an app on a tablet to control it so I thought JPlay would do that since I can load it on my iPAD and it sees my Qobuz library, but all it will do is AirPlay to my processor. Maybe I'm misunderstanding and trying to get it to do something it isn't capable of? If I'm confused about JPlay's capabilities. is there an app that can control Qobuz on my PC so I can get the high resolution files instead of AirPlay? thanks Does your processor support UPnP or DLNA? That’s the preferred way to use JPLAY. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

The Computer Audiophile
1 hour ago, di-fi said: Unable to delete @The Computer Audiophile Why is it that we can't delete a post after a certain amount of time? And why is there such a short window to edit a post? In my opinion, extending the time limit for editing posts would reduce impulsive or poorly thought-out comments. It would encourage more thoughtful discussions by giving users a chance to reflect and refine their comments, ultimately improving the quality of the content. Then again, maybe it's just me trying to multitask by writing while enjoying music—but that's a tough balance to strike! I believe people post more carefully when they know their posts can’t be edited in perpetuity. There’s no incentive to craft a carefully written post if one can go back and edit it for a long time. Extended editing windows lead to the move fast, break things, and iterate mentality. El Guapo 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

This doesn’t seem to cause any issues when posting on other platforms, like WBF. In fact, I find it much more convenient there. On WBF, I can also delete a post if my attempt to quote something accidentally results in a new post being saved. I think you should consider the difference between long-term and short-term editing windows. It seems like the edit window on AS is around 15-20 minutes. Could this be doubled or even tripled, at least? Your feedback is noted. I’ve run the site for 17 years and tried many different configurations. The current time limits work best here. Items saved for later will be accessible in the new "Saved for Later" section in the menu. Access this feature through the context menu by tapping the three dots (...) next to any item you'd like to save for later. I love this feature. So cool. It’s perfect for how I discover music.
